The IES file extension is most often linked with photometric data files. The Illumination Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) designed the standard file format for photometric data exchanges.
Photometric data files are recorded as.ies files, which include amounts and measurements of light. They represent illumination intensity and brightness. IES files are measurements of light in terms of how it appears to the human eye. They are used often by engineers, architects, and 3D game developers.
The.ies files aid in simulating lighting systems prior to their installation on various infrastructures. IES files are also useful for analyzing light source illumination for outdoor locations such as roads and parks. It assists engineers and architects in determining the optimal lighting fixtures for a certain construction. And since.ies files include mostly lighting and photometry data, many 3D computer-aided design systems can read and support this file format.
The majority of LDT files are DIALux by DIAL files. An LDT file is a design for an indoor/outdoor lighting fixture recorded in EULUMDAT format. The file is generated by the lighting design and analysis program DIALux. It includes photometric information about a light fixture (luminaire). Another form of LDT file comprises output data or a script used by FNDLOAD to transfer database data to a text file. Oracle's E-Business Suite includes FNDLOAD as an integral component. Typically, the LDT file includes a lookup script, concurrent program, profile, etc. The same kind of LDT file may be used to hold database-retrieved information.
