Lights in parking lots are often called "parking lot light poles" or "LED light poles". They are also sometimes incorrectly called street lights, but this is incorrect. Street lights cast a narrow beam to illuminate a narrow rectangular area, such as a street pavement, while parking lot lights cast a wider beam to illuminate a larger area.
For parking lots, LED area lights are the preferred choice. While this has not always been the case, LEDs have dominated this use case due to their durability, energy efficiency, and effectiveness in achieving the required brightness levels. The most significant advantage of LEDs is their lumen maintenance rate, which means that even after many years, they will retain more than 90% of their original brightness.
The number of light poles required depends on the square footage you are trying to illuminate and the level of brightness needed for the entire lot. If the parking lot needs to be brightly lit, it will require more lights than the parking lot, which only needs a basic lighting level for basic security. If you are starting from scratch and want to light the entire lot (which is the most common scenario we see among our customers), you will need to purchase poles and lights. Another point to consider is how many lights you will be using on the poles.
