What is LED Street Lighting?
While LED street lighting technology is still relatively young, the science behind it is well understood because LEDs have been around for decades. A LED bulb has a somewhat different structural structure; it is essentially a light bulb without the filament. Furthermore, the color temperature and illumination intensity are solely determined by electron mobility in the semiconductor material. Furthermore, because LEDs use solid-state technology, they are easier to control and program, making them one of the most adaptable and flexible lighting sources available today.
How is LED street light designed?
It may appear that installing LED street lighting is an easy task. It is, however, a difficult process involving complicated engineering accounts.
Because of the quick expansion in market share and high-profit rate in this area since we introduced LED lighting technology, many companies in many sectors that do not have technical infrastructure have entered the field of LED lighting.
Barbecue manufacturers have begun to produce LED lights. However, the majority of these businesses specialized in assembly. These devices broke before the warranty term ended due to a lack of engineering. Consumers sought to apply for a warranty from the corporation, but none were accessible.
The number of companies has increased dramatically, but they have also been wiped out of the market at the same time. These producers, who are just interested in making a lot of money in a short amount of time and don't care about product quality, have shattered faith in LED technology. Other producers on the market were also harmed as a result of their actions.
When designed appropriately, not only street lights, but all LED lighting fixtures can be operated without difficulties for decades.
LEDs, the printed circuit board (PCB) on which these LEDs are placed, secondary optical thermal conductors such as lens and reflector, LED driver, and housing make up an LED street lighting fixture.
The choosing of LEDs is the initial step in the lighting armature design process. When choosing LEDs, pay close attention to the LED datasheet and test reports. Because LED Selection will dictate how the rest of the system is designed.
The LED selection process will not end with identifying the LED's package, brand, and model. LEDs of various hues and luminances can be found in the same model. Color bin and flux bin selection must be done via a datasheet in order to accomplish this.
The necessary number of LEDs and adequate connection structure should be installed on the print circuit board (PCB). The LED module is the name of this device. Following the design of the LED module, the LED driver must be chosen to supply the required driving current to the module. The LEDs will fail in a short length of time if the limit values are passed over them.
Primary optical refers to the optical substance used on the LED package. The LED may emit light at a specific angle thanks to these optics. Because of their utilization, LED streetlights necessitate secondary optical solutions. Asymmetric light distribution is achieved by using high-efficiency lenses in street lighting. The amount of light that passes through a lens is an important factor to consider when choosing a lens. Lenses with low light transmittance lose light. Reduces the efficiency of the system.
For LED lighting, the most crucial element affecting product life heat. As a result, the heat created by the LEDs should be dissipated using the cooler housing.
The thermal pad on the lower surface of the LED transfers the heat generated by the LEDs to the aluminum printed circuit board. To be evacuated, the heat from the aluminum printed circuit board must be transferred to the cooler body.
The print circuit is attached to the body's inside surface by screws. Screwing, on the other hand, is insufficient for heat conduction. Even though the spaces between the card and the body are not apparent, they still exist. Thermal conductive material must be used to fill these gaps. The thermally conductive paste is applied to the body's inside surface, and then the card is inserted and screwed in place for a precise assembly.
Because of its high thermal conductivity, the armature body is composed of aluminum. Based on factors such as led selection, led driving current, and safe operating temperature, the construction, and size of the cooler body are decided.
Because led street luminaires are designed to be used outside, the electrical components in the body structure must be resistant to water, dust, and moisture. As a result, it must have an IP65 protection rating at the very least, and preferably an IP66 or IP67 protection level.
