Many current high bay lighting and low bay lighting applications employ high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps such as metal halide or high-pressure sodium lamps.

Specifically, employing HID bulbs will result in: higher than required energy expenses, frequent maintenance costs, and poor illumination performance.
